And in Arcadia: Victor Balanon
Exhibiting from 11 July to 9 August 2015 is “And in Arcadia” Victor Balanon at mo_space. Inspired by Nicolas Poussin’s painting “Et in Arcadia ego,” Balanon depicts the idyllic life, the utopian world, through landscapes but hinting the presence of death amidst the fantasy. These landscapes in turn, are striped of the context that strike the memory that makes them familiar and makes one rethink of the concepts of memory, reality, and fantasy.
Victor Balanon is a self-taught artist who left his studies in Dental Medicine at the University of the East early to pursue his love and passion. He has since been able to publish a comic anthology, studied at the Mowelfund Film Institute producing two short animated films, and is a part of the artist group Surrounded By Water.
