24HR Art, Darwin
24HR Art was established in 1989 as a non-profit association. 24HR Art grew out of a long-standing desire of many individuals and organisations in the Territory for a venue dedicated specifically to the promotion and support of contemporary visual art. To create an environment that offers artists an opportunity to experiment, explore and exhibit their work, a space to share and collaborate with local, national and international arts communities. 24HR Art is a legally incorporated association whose operations are the responsibility of an elected and appointed Board of Management. 24HR Art is assisted by the Commonwealth Government through the Australia Council arts funding and advisory body, by the Northern Territory Government through Arts NT and by the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments. It's mission is to maintain and develop the contemporary visual arts in the Northern Territory, facilitating opportunities to engage with contemporary visual arts by supporting and promoting diverse contemporary art practices. Each year the public programs consist of exhibitions, interdisciplinary and multimedia projects, emerging and established artists, curated and artist initiated projects, artist talks, themed forums, residencies and professional development workshops. 24 HR Art assists and develops off site and regional exhibitions and prioritizes projects that promote Northern Territory artists.
