Hiraya Gallery, Manila
Hiraya Gallery was established in 1980 and continues in its dedication to promote and develop serious, imaginative, and relevant Philippine art and young but talented Filipino artists. It opens its doors to all artists, especially the unknown and the new, regardless of their background, medium, and style as long as they are dedicated and passionate about their craft. And in pursuit of their endeavor, they do not impose their business will and their artistic tastes on the artists but encourages them to freely grow and bloom on their own.
From 6 December 2023 to 8 January 2015, Hiraya Gallery is exhibiting Eric Guazon’s “Specific Target.” In this exhibit, Guazon criticizes the progress of technology in warfare specifically with the creation of drones. By representing these as shadows, he points out that these further dehumanizes war because they are operated at a far distance: pervasive but rendered invisible by technological advances.
