Patangis-Buwaya: Jonas Baes

In tandem with the current exhibit “Ethos Bathos Pathos,” the UP Vargas Museum warmly invites you to attend the last of four concerts by Jonas Baes entitled “Patangis-Buwaya (The Crocodile Weeps)” on 5 March 2023 from 4-5PM. In this performance, Baes’ piece will be accompanied with flutes and his homemade “Peace Chimes” that encourages the audience to be a part of the production.
 
Jonas Baes is a ethnomusicologist, writer, composer who actively researches and extensively writes about Filipino music which was published in Australian, German, Japanese, South Korean, Filipino, and American publications. He also has been honored several awards and recognition some of which are CCP-LFC Composition Prize (1980, for Awit ng Ibon), Hall of Fame Award for best research at the University of the Philippines, Gawad Chancellor para sa Pinakamahusay na Mananaliksik (2001–03), and Nippon Foundation Senior Fellowship for Asian Public Intellectuals (2008–09).
