A Short History of Decay: Pio Abad

From 6 March to 12 April 2015, Pio Abad’s first solo exhibition “A Short History of Decay” is being presented at Silverlens Singapore. Inspired by the book “A Short History of Decay” by Emil Cioran, Abad puts into practice the philosophy of how “consciousness changes only its forms and modalities, but never progresses” through his artworks displayed: objective black and white drawings of various objects and reshaping everyday items in his sculptures. Furthermore, he questions the role of objects in the progression or non-progression of a nation’s or a civilization’s collective memory.

Pio Abad is a London-based artist who is concerned with the study of history and its attendant acts of commemoration, speculation and revision.
